Qigong is one of China’s most precious and closely guarded treasures. It aims to regulate and strengthen the vital force, or “Qi” that flows through each of us. Cultures from around the world have studied Qi (which all living beings have) because of its direct relation to health. When our Qi is blocked, stagnant or too active, we experience unbalanced emotions, physical pain, illness, susceptibility to injury, lack of focus, anxiety and fatigue.
These are the results from a stressful lifestyle, exposure to electromagnetic pollution and toxins in food and air. After a short warmup, we utilize deep breathing techniques combined with stretches and postures to stimulate various acupuncture points and meridians. The improved flow of Qi will result in deep relaxation, higher energy levels, improved flexibility and a centered mind. The lymphatic and circulatory systems will increase providing powerful detoxifying effects.
This is the practice needed to develop Iron Body. Some of the more popular forms are Bodhidharma Yi Jin Jing (Muscle & Tendon Changing Method), Ba Duan Jin (Eight Pieces of Brocade) and Liu Zijue (Six Healing Sounds).
